Professor Jun Masuda of the Faculty of Engineering received the 15th Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch Contribution Award from the Japan Society of Applied Physics
Professor Jun Masuda of the Graduate School of Science and Technology (Faculty of Engineering), Director of the Carbon-Neutral Fusion Technology Research Center, attached to the University's Research Management Organization, received the 15th Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch Contribution Award from the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) at the 2025 Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch Academic Conference held on December 6th. This award recognizes his outstanding contributions to the development of applied physics through the operation and revitalization of the JSAP Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch and EM-NANO, as well as his research on solar cells. Following the award ceremony, Professor Masuda gave a special commemorative lecture titled "Looking back on his activities at the JSAP Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch and EM-NANO."
Since 2000, Professor Masuda has been involved in the management of the Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP), serving as the Ishikawa Prefecture Regional Secretary, the Niigata Prefecture Regional Secretary, and an elected delegate. He has also served as an organizing and program committee member for the International Symposium on Organic and Inorganic Electronic Materials and Related Nanotechnologies (EM-NANO), an international conference organized by the Hokuriku-Shinetsu Branch, since its inception in 2004. In particular, he served as Program Chair for the 9th Symposium in 2023 and Vice Program Chair for the 10th Symposium in 2025, where he played a central role in inviting speakers from around the world and organizing an attractive program. He has also been elected as Organizing Chair for the 11th Symposium, scheduled to be held in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture in 2027. Professor Masuda's long-standing contributions to the development of applied physics through his solar cell research, which he has presented primarily at the JSAP, are also cited as reasons for the award.
