Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences

Based on Niigata University's philosophy of "Autonomy and Creativity," and with the aim of contributing to the steady development of local communities and the world as a frontrunner in Life Innovation, the Graduate School cultivates individuals who will take the initiative and work collaboratively to solve human and social issues that cannot be resolved through specialized knowledge in a single field alone. They will do so in settings that create “convergence knowledge,” drawing on broad learning across multiple fields, advanced specialized knowledge and skills, and appropriate attitudes and approaches. The Graduate School also cultivates professionals and researchers who possess knowledge in specialized fields, interdisciplinary grounding, and the ability to identify and explore issues independently.

Master’s Program of Humanities and Social Sciences

To contribute to the development of the humanities and social sciences today, the formation of a sustainable and harmonious human society, and the construction of a richly diverse culture, the Master’s Program of Humanities and Social Sciences cultivates people who are grounded in advanced specialized knowledge in the humanities and social sciences as well as in interdisciplinary skills for integrating a wide range of “knowledge.” The program cultivates people with outstanding and highly original research capabilities and the ability to explore questions they have identified themselves and solve issues.

Master’s Program of Sciences and Technologies

To contribute to the development of natural sciences encompassing the academic fields of science, engineering, and agriculture, and to the formation of a sustainable and harmonious human society, the Master’s Program of Sciences and Technologies cultivates people who are grounded in advanced specialized knowledge in natural sciences and interdisciplinary skills for the integration of a wide range of “knowledge.” The program cultivates people with outstanding and highly original research capabilities and the ability to explore questions they have identified themselves and solve issues.
