Application Guidelines for Students Taking Non-degree Courses in the Master’s Program of Humanities and Social Sciences
Application period
First semester application period (if you wish to take first semester courses):
■ 1st round: Wednesday, November 19, 2025 - Friday, November 21, 2025 [must arrive]
■ 2nd round: Wednesday, January 28, 2026 to Friday, January 30, 2026 [must arrive]
Second semester application period (if you wish to take courses offered in the second semester):
■ 1st round: May 11th (Monday) to May 13th (Wednesday), 2026 [must arrive]
■ 2nd round: Monday, July 27, 2026 to Wednesday, July 29, 2026 [must arrive]
International students should apply during the first phase.
If you wish to enroll as a non-degree student with a "Student" visa, you must register for at least 10 hours of classes per week (7 classes). Applications will not be accepted if you do not meet this requirement. For details, please see the application guidelines below.

Application period

Natural Sciences Research Student Application Guidelines
Application period
■ Applicants who wish to enroll on April 1st: Monday, January 19th, 2026 to Friday, January 23rd, 2026 [must arrive]
■ Applicants who wish to enroll on October 1st: July 21st (Tuesday) to July 24th (Friday), 2026 [Must arrive]

Examination fee: 9,800 yen (bank transfer using the designated form)
Please note that we may check your eligibility when you apply. (Please be especially careful if you have not obtained a degree from Niigata University.)
- Fill out the necessary information on the transfer request form, pay the examination fee at the nearest financial institution (excluding Japan Post Bank), and pay the fee while keeping the following points in mind. When doing so, be sure to have the bank stamped in the "handling bank's receipt stamp" section on the "receipt (copy)" (financial institution → payer → university)" and submit it together with your application documents.
Please note that bank transfer fees will be borne by the applicant. Please be sure to enter the applicant's name in the requester's name field. - The examination fee should be transferred one week before the application period.
- Transfers cannot be made via ATM (automated teller machine).
- Examination fees and application documents already paid will not be refunded.
However, if you do not submit your application documents within the application period after transferring the examination fee, the examination fee will be refunded. Please contact the Academic Affairs Section of the Graduate School of Science and Technology.
The examination fee remittance form cannot be downloaded, so please pick one up at the office in charge of your department.
